Web Designer

We are looking for a visual designer who wants to solve meaningful problems and create beautiful, functional, and persuasive interfaces, illustrations, and brand identities.

In addition to working collaboratively with a team to solve problems and solve them well, you also need to be able to stand tall in front of a skeptical crowd and convince them that your solution is the best solution for them. You must be adept at client services. Your blood should boil with the urgency to sell good design to people.

We are a small shop and everyone who works here has to be at the top of their game.

The Designer we’re looking for has:

  • substantive professional experience (no need to put a number on it)
  • a burning need to push design into its next evolutionary stage
  • no fear of clients, or of telling clients things they might need to know but are afraid to hear
  • the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines (research, strategy, interaction design, code) and ideas about how to improve the intersections
  • verbal communication and reasoning skills, including the ability to make a business case for design
  • a powerful intellectual curiosity
  • a strong sense of craft
  • a year or three working a crap job in the restaurant industry

Write a short email convincing us why we should talk to you. Be persuasive. Don’t be cute.
E-mails with attachments get filtered to the trash.

This is a permanent, full-time job beginning as soon as we find the right person.

You will work on-site in San Francisco.
